oh bugger!
« on: 29 April 2009, 20:45:48 »

right, ive been going over the other halfs astra due to the forgotten MOT, found a front spring snapped, right pig to do as the track rod end refused to budge, anti rollbar link snapped on removal so had to do the spring inside the wheel arch, anyhow ive now got the problem of no brakes >:( >:(, obviously this is due to pushing the caliper piston in to get pads out to take off caliper, so can somebody please remind me how to get the master cylinder seal to go back the right way, i know it involves a hammer but cant remember the technique :'(,,,TIA :y

Think it was something like 'get the assistant to depress the brake pedal while you hit the servo with a few hard taps'

the hammer trick worked like a charm :y, took the astra for a run & the sports light started flashing & drove in limp mode >:(, turned ignition off & started it up again & thankfully the sport light went out, so it sounds like a auto box service is in order >:(,so at 2pm its off to the MOT station for the old astra, & hopefully we`ll be o,k :-/
