Astra G headlamp adjustment for continental use
« on: 30 April 2009, 19:51:21 »

Hi all

Does anyone know if my Dads 53 plate Astra G will have a lever to drop the beam for driving in Europe or will we need to get him beam converters........??

Taking both cars over to Normandy next Friday and just trying to get everything sorted this weekend.

Thanks in advance people

I thought it's only cars with Xenon/HID or projector-style headlamps that have levers to adjust the beam pattern?  :-?

IIRC, the majority of Astra G's have H4's, and will need beam benders sticking on the lens  :y

Aye, it'll be a beam-bender job.

But, given past experience - I'd get the type that are black, so that they stand out.  Not the type that are the clear reflector style.

We've been pulled over by the, ahem, friendly gendarmaries waiting just down the road from Calais trying to spot cars which don't have beam benders fitted.

Oh, and whilst we're on the subject - tell your dad to make sure he has a high-vis vest for each occupant of the car (i.e. driver and all passengers), and they must be kept in the cabin somewhere - not in the boot (I stashed ours under the seats), and a spare set of bulbs etc  :y

If he doesn't have either, your local poundshop will have the vests and the bulbs in.  No point paying stupidly inflated prices when ya don't need to!  :y
