I wonder why so many accidents happen between 23:00 and 0500 then - I often drive during these times, and I must say, I feel a lot safer than I would driving along the M4 at 8:30am..!

Yep true - I agree on the drink drive factor - but generally, the increased volume of 8am rush hour traffic, along with Mr no-time-to-live tailgaiter blasting down lane 3, makes it equally as dangerous, IMO

Apprently empty carriageways make it irresistable to floor the accelerator !!! C,mom even us oldies give in to it every now and then !!!!  But a youngster, just passed his test (maybe!) hasn't got the expwerience to deal with the consequences should anything be amiss!!!!

Fair points - but I still maintain it's equally as dangerous on a motorway at rush hour, etc... people don't seem to have a minute to breathe....

Remember, a few years ago Norwich tried to bring it in for all age groups and it was a resounding flop.  IIRC Jon had one fitted.

It's all well and good when used for intended purpose --- but then the "powers that be" realise that they can pin point anyone at anytime, track their movements and SPEED at any given time.

I would imagine they could, if they so wished, set it up to issue NIPs automatically, 24/7 and covering every square inch of the tarmac!!!!

Driving without tax and insurance would automatically ping up on the system too (who needs ANPR?) ------ and I still say they could link it into the StarWars System and automaticallly vapourise offenders from space !!!!!!!

Sorry -- that last bit got a bit silly --- but all of the foregoing is alarmingly possible  :o :o :o :o
