No Tunnie you're thinking of Colditz Burns Farm.

That's the one .... I was trying to think of its name!  ;D ;D ;D ;D
What Colditz? ;D ;D

The owner could have been quite at home in Colditz ..... my last memory of her was as she was storming towards our caravan to pull the plug on our 'van cos we were 'stealing her electric'!  :-?  :-?

Check this site out http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/
Could help you out if it's just caravan sites, I know quite a few in good locations (no open fires though)  but if you want tents, try the link above.

try this one James

http://www.wdlh.co.uk/Parks/Highlands-End.aspx

Its where i go nearly every year.....used to always have a static van....last couple of years do camping  :y

Pub/resturant/shop onsite

And im going again this year shortly......

Only downside.....not that cheap....and they charge extra for dogs

But the facilities are spotless clean.......several toilet/shower blocks/hot water always  :y

And just added they dont mind bbq's......if you get the throw away types....they even provide bricks so you dont burn the grass  :y

I am after a campsite that meets the following criteria:

1) Accepts Dogs

2) Has a nice pub (not your weatherspoon rubbish) within a 2 mile raduis - which also welcomes dogs.

3) Has showers and basic facilities onsite

4) Is in a nice part of the UK/Wales/Scotland (location unimportant, as long as scenic)

5) Allows small, contained campfires.

Suggestions or recommendations very welcome  :y

check out southerness or kipford. both on the solway coast in south west scotland. southerness is the bigger of the 2 and has 4 pubs within the campsite, kipford is a small fishing village with 2 pubs. both are very scenic and very popular. dogs welcome at both. :y :y

James, I would recommend 2 sites:

1) Edale - Coopers campsite. Facilities are basic although there is a cafe on site and a good pub just outside the site gates. Dogs are welcome at both site and pub. Prices are very reasonable on the site. Countryside is fantastic.

2) Ashbourne (Derbyshire) - Callow top. At the other end of the spectrum, facilities are great. Outdoor pool, assigned pitch numbers, pub on site. Dogs welcome. A bit more expensive, in line with facilities.

Both are on ukcampsite.co.uk

One I've used (and still do) in Cornwall is Calouse Caravan park, about 5m from St Ives.  Nice quiet site, onsite clubhouse and games room, outside pool etc.  Trouble is, anything off site will be a car trip...

The site more than makes up for the basic website, its beautiful, kingfishers fly up and down the river behind where you pitch, buzzards and eagles etc regulary fly overhead, quite, peacefull and relaxing, it all depends i supose what you want from a camp site, if its loud music and club house then its not the place to go. I have been there many time although not for the last few years and think it is a wonderful place and a good centre to explore the forest of Dean and Wye Valley, Simmons Yat etc etc.  :y
