Are there any Tech 1 users out there?
« on: 13 May 2009, 21:03:42 »

Wasn't sure where to put this as it's not really Omega specific.

If there's anybody out there who has a Tech 1. Can you please tell me if the lead to the car has a 12 pin plug on it which you then plug a converter plug into to get it to 16 pin or maybe 10 pin ALDI? Mine has had the ten pin plug soldered on the end which is great for use on my Carlies etc but I need to try a 12-16 pin converter I have for GM cars which have what looks like a OBD2 socket fitted (same shape) but is really ALDI

Is it?I have a adaptor which converts from 12 pin to 16 which gave me the impression it must of come with a 12 pin lead when my tech one was new. I've also found you can get a lead with a interface which allows you to read OBD2 cars but that's not what I'm trying to do. Hmmm maybe it be easier to change the socket on the car to the old type 10 pin but then I can't help other owners out

For the 2.5/3.0lt omegas oh and the 2lt 8 valves. All the rest I understand to be tech 2 cars. I have the correct Omega cartridge for the Tech 1 just need to find away to over come the problem of the bodge on the end of my lead. I have been told that some of the real early migs have the ten pin plug as used on the other VX cars of the same period.

All Omegas have the 16 pin connector.

There should be a multiplexor on the tech1 lead to pick right diag pin for each ecu, but easy enough either switch, or clever use of diodes to wire them all up, and isolate them.

Yea the converter has a switch on the side of it to change things around and as you said this is for early cars really.
