I wondered how long it was going to be but it's finally hit our company now. 5 staff made redundant today and empty order book. only booked a holiday of a lifetime in the Caribbean recently and looking like I might have to cancel.
Although I'm accounts/admin manager and been told my jobs safe at the moment I think its just a matter of time. :-/

I don't doubt that for one minute. Still, it'll come as a real shock to the system if we go down the pan. I been employed at this company for over 30 years and only ever been out of work once which was only for 3 weeks when I was a teenager!! Oh well, fingers crossed.

I genuinely believe that there will be no upturn until there is a General Election. No one is willing to invest until they see a clearer picture of the way ahead.

I am sure you work for a company that expects a professional  approach to it's work, so I will refrain from sending your management certain pictures of you being rather less than professional....

In my profession my job is hard to come by, especially for the money I am on now. Not a nice feeling is it!  

I think what makes it even worse is the fact we've spent close to £500000.00 over the last few years developing a new software product and it was released for sale in January just in time for the recession!! Around 80% of our customers are Government and although they have expressed high interest in the new product , their spending has been capped, hence no orders. It's going to take a miracle to pull us out of this one. :-/

I work for BT and have survived last years job cuts and was just beginning to breathe a sigh of relief when they go and announce 15,000 more job losses! I've worked for BT for the last 26 years so I'm not sure what I could do other than phones in the big wide world.
