van in front of me hit a car and drove off, mate sitting next to me said he got the number while i took a photo but it was a bit far to see the reg. i knocked at the mans house and told him and i called the police who said the reg didnt exist on the van. we offered the police the picture so they could get the reg number but they wasnt interested and told him to just go through his inurance. im trying to help the poor bloke so can anyone suggest how i can get the reg number as its at a bit of a distance on the picture
Of course if the police had been interested they can use special enhancing equipment as they do for major crimes!
The problem is now they have not got the time or resources to chase limited return cases, with all the paperwork involved, such as that type of alleged 'hit and run', thanks to our wonderful politicians. If the 'hit and run' had involved a person, then a full investigation would commence. But for property.......forget it! It is left to the insurance company to settle.

PS If the police have already got the reg., as you say they stated it did not exist, what is the enhancement going to prove? The van is no doubt carrying false number plates, being either stolen or unregistered, so those plates would have been removed by now with a new set put on. Try tracing that van now....!! As said, the police will not use valuable resource to solve that one. They will just wait for that van to 'turn up' on another inquiry if and when.
