Daz & Pete - What a Pair of Artists!!!
« on: 12 May 2009, 22:01:09 »

Now I know the regulars on the forum enjoy winding up Daz & Pete (to the point of even inferring that there is something wrong in them both wearing matching pink shirts) but today they have spent 8 hours in my drive working on my poorly Omega.

To summarise (and I'm bound to get some of the terminology wrong so sorry in advance) they:

Changed the Cams
Cleaned out the breathers
Fitted a complete new exhaust system
Did an oil & filter change
Changed rear brake pads & plates/drum(?)
Flushed out and changed the coolent
Fitted new centre console

I spent most of the day with them in absolute awe as to the time and care they took in carrying out every little step. They treated the car as if it was their own!

This morning I was getting on average 23.7mpg (24V V6). Just come back from a short run around town and I'm now getting 32mpg, Can't wait to get it on the motorway!

We may question their dress sense but you cannot question their professionalism and application.

I strongly recommend them to any technophobe like me who needs a helping hand - they were superb!

Thank you chaps for the work and your company! :y :y :y :y :y :y :y :y :y

I have to ask....how on earth are you getting 32mpg around town...when Vx themselves say it will only do 20mpg around town?

I'm not knocking these guys because I don't know them from Adam, but I really don't see how you can get (56mph) motorway fuel consumption figures when Vx themselves say the best you can hope for is 20mpg urban.

My "town" consists of 2 main streets and then the Snake Pass ;) ;) I live in the High Peak.

Daz drove it first and only got 30.5mpg (amateur) but I just did about a 4 mile trip and got 32mpg - I couldn't believe the difference. Even the V6 "growl" is back! :) :)

Aha, you took your figures from the pathological liar trip computer.
Do a real life test (empty the tank, fill it with 1 gallon, reset the trip, drive it till it stops), you'll crap yourself  ;D

If its OK with you I think I will do it the other way around. I'll fill the tank, drive some miles and then top it up again and see what was used against the miles gone.

Call me old fashioned ....  ;) ;) ;)
