We have been looking for a night shift engineer since beginning of the year and we are finding it hard to fill the position , maybe the permanent nights putting people off

Depends what you have under your belt already in the way of quals as to how long you spend at college, but once you are qualified, 2 days a week from 9-3 will see you paying the weekly bills easily if you can put in to practice what you've actually learned.

Go self employed.  Small add in free paper, start with dishwasher/washing machine install and build up slowly.  Outside taps, extra rads fitted.  Just take on the jobs you can cope with till the funds build up.

I asked a plumber with his details on his sweat shirt to price me taking off 5 rads and then putting them back on to decorate.  he quoted me £140, 70 for each trip, said he couldnt do it for 2 weeks as he was pulled out with it.  "Thank God for that"

Small jobs, good prices, you wont need to advertise after a month, word of mouth will bring the work in.
