All advice welcome, try and keep it clean !!
« on: 17 May 2009, 20:13:21 »

Hi all
I have just joined the forum as I am am about to buy an Omega and after reading quite a lot of posts and tech articles you do seem like a great bunch of people.
I posted this in the newbies but it was suggested I post it here.

I am just about to buy the 03 Estate with LPG but is a Cat C write off from fleabay.
I went to look at the car and it only needs a new bonnet, bumper bar and drivers side headlight, the bumper can be repaired but will probably get another one, all used of course - lol.
Never having owned a Vauxhall before I was hoping that I might get some feedback as to what else to look for apart from the normal things I have seen on here. The radio needs the code so I have to trust it is working. It is the CDX version, It is advertised as having electric seats but I did not see any buttons on the seat, also heated, not that I like heated seats, so I might knock him down if they are not there. I couldn't drive it when I went to view it as the bumper was off of it and the power steering pipe was fractured, so will do so before I part with the readies.
I'm sure the first question will be - how much, he wants £1000

Thanks Roger

He's having a laugh!! ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;)  In that condition even an 03 as it is can only be  worth £300 MAX considering the cost of the repairs you will have to cartyout! ;) ;)

Sounds too much in my opinion.
What engine is it and what miles.
The car will never be worth money on a cat c.

£1000 for a Cat C is abit cheeky!

you can procure an Accident free facelift for around £1500 even less if you can afford to run a 3litre/3.2

CDX should have heated seats im sure the facelifts even had H/S as standard??? i know the prefacelifts do

DaveDND is the man to speak to about radio codes if you get the car put a post in the ICE section and dave will help you

Cat C is usually for cars that need a fair bit of work doing too them

Unless it is genuine mega low mileage, I reckon thats too much money to be honest.  A reasonable straight 03 CDX Estate with 100k shouldn't be much more than that!

It's got 74600 on the clock, I am attracted to it as it also has an LPG conversion kit on it, hence cheaper fuel costs. It's a 2.2, the options listed are :-
Alarm, Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS), Driver Airbag, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Immobiliser, Passenger Airbag, Rear seat belts, Safety Belt Pretensioners, Side Airbags, Xenon headlights
AM/FM Stereo, Cassette Player, CD Multichanger, CD Player

Air Conditioning, Climate Control, Cruise Control, Electric heated seats, Power-assisted Steering (PAS), Power Locks, Power Seats, Power Windows, Sunroof, Tilt Steering Wheel

I can source the parts locally for about £200 plus the cost of spraying, I must admit I'm surprised how much the main beam xenon bulbs cost when I was checking on the web, but I do like to see where I'm going.

True ESP is apparently very rare, what I think you mean is Traction Control - a 2.2 does NOT have Traction Control .... not enough cylinders ;)
You'll find all those 'options' on any Omega of that age and more.

Its the LPG thats selling it.....if it only needs bonnet/headlamp/bumper......then to me the price doesnt sound too bad....

Care to guess what i got for my 03 2.2 LPG with 150k on it.....plus the issues it had.....think you know most of them....

Plus with fuel costs....i think peeps shy away from the v6's......tbh wrongly so imo.....a V6 doesnt do much less to the gallon than a 4pot.

For Rogthedodge100......what sort of LPG conversion has it? and has it been done by LPGA certified installer?
