TV/Game Console connections Help
« on: 20 May 2009, 20:23:28 »

Have been juggling about my gaming consoles (all 13 of them) so they all plug into my TV
I have a Sony 40" but only with 2 x HDMI sockets plus various others.
The thing is every console works apart from the PS3 - it will work via an HDMI but i have the Sky HD box and a Sony HDD DVD Recorder plugged into the two HDMI sockets that are available
Next best thing i thought is to use the component socket (PS3 wont work) so after that use a scart socket (PS3 wont work) an RGB (PS3 wont work)
Do you have to set the output for the PS3 or something as i want to keep the HDMI free for the Sky and DVD while ideally using the component for PS3
PHEW that took some explaining

im a PS3 Expert right

you can get from game for the pricely sum of £5 a component output lead for the PS3 that uses the Y/PRCR plugs on the back of your tv

you have to tell the PS3 that its not in HD mode theres two ways of doing this

if you cant get it to come up on the tv do this turn it on and hold the powerbutton down till it beeps 3 seperate times or,....

Go into settings>video setings>then select component Y/CR etc and that should bring it up on component

Agreed, a lot of people think HDMI is better than component..... wrong!

Just because a signal is digital does not make it better.

Either buy an HDMI switcher box, or do as TMX said.

Use HDMI for Hi Def so PS3 and the Sky box.

Use RGB Scart or Component for the DVD Recorder
