The option used to be turned on, but caused a problem iirc....

whats the chance that problem has been resolved now we are a few software releases away from that time?
The software, if enabled, will do what its supposed to.

There are other technical problems with doing so though...

There are quite a few that are slightly oversize and block text in FF ...  .. I've given up asking folks to change them after adverse comment from those who seem to think we should all use but one browser - and it wasn't a mod/admin making the comment .. :(

Its not a browser issue but essentially a manners and consideration for Admin and other users issue.

The Admin have a nightmare regulating a site like this and we should all do whatever we can to make their lives easier as we are the ones who get the real benefits. The rules are there - we need to stick with them as they are there for a reason.

Sorry - on my soapbox a bit I'm afraid! :o :o

100% agreement with you there ... but unfortunately others don't see it that way, the the Admin staff donj't want to appear bolshy by picking up every transgression .. a point of view I also understand and agree with.

The easiest and best way would be for everyone to READ and OBEY the published rules .. 110 * 110 pixels ..... that way everyone would be happy .. :)
Part of the problem is that as IE7 is still the most popular browser by a considerable margin, many do not know they are causing an issue, as it looks OK to them.

As an predominantly IE user myself, I don't often notice if an avatar is too wide, so obviously don't pick up on it.  I didn't even notice my old avatar of my MV6 was 10px too wide until somebody (who shall remain nameless ;)) picked me up on it after I asked them to reduce theirs  :-[

Wonder who that might have been. ::)

If an avatar is covering part of the text in IE8 then add this site to the compatability list (looks like a broken sheet of paper next the the refresh button), that will shrink the avatar enough to show the text :y

Well, ya live 'n' learn  :y

I have now reduced the size of my avatars, so hopefully won't cause any folks out there anymore problems ::)
