How pointless regulations are ruining British pubs
« on: 02 June 2009, 23:51:23 »

A depressing read here:

http://www.reason.com/news/show/133827.html

To quote: "One Staffordshire pub hurriedly axed its 25-year-old dominos team, when police discovered that it lacked a license for sporting activity."

Methinks we need a revolution.  >:( >:(

This is crazy, the traditional pub offered a release from the working day for so long, plus its a meeting place for lots of people who don't get out a lot, plus activities for OAP's, plus the number of bands who started off there and had a load of fun, etc. Unfortunately its the police who have to control this no matter if they think its stupid or not. Common sense is not part of the equation.

The question is are the people who make these laws fit for anything ?. They sure as hell ain't fit to make laws or control anything, yet we are going to be paying their pensions for many years, no matter how much they screwed their expenses.

Unfortunately there are probably several well written laws that stop us from hanging the lot :-X
