bad news
« on: 06 June 2009, 00:46:24 »

I had to call for an ambulance this afternoon as i thought my dad was having another stroke or heart attack...Well it was an Aortic Annuerism and he had to go in for emergency surgery...The consultant gave me and my brother the blunt truth and told us it was a 20% chance he would survive the surgery as the blood vessel had swollen to 3 times its normal size....After what seemed an eternity he came out of surgery and was transfered to the CCU in the heart and lung wing of new cross hospital and his chances of recovery have now risen to 50/50 :'( :'(

Absolutely horrid for you, mate, but the rise in recovery prospects to 50/50 will hopefully give you grounds for cautious optimism.

I sincerely hope your dad makes a full recovery. :y

Thoughts are with you Bertie.

My old man suffers from the same and has done for the last 17 years. If he can come through this I know he will be fine afterwards as there is a lot they can do now.

Good luck :y

Dodgiest bit was the surgery --- now the patch is in place the hopes are far better  :y

My dad had one a fair few years ago --- scared us all silly for a while .... now, with his dacron patch, metal hips and plastic knees he is more bionic !!!!!

Hope the recovery continues to go well mate ,,, chin up  :y
