Mig Insurance
« on: 07 June 2009, 00:54:55 »

I have been running a few insurance quotes tonight, various scenarios etc.

Anyway, on one quote for the Mig I removed 17 year old, fine, now £142.90, so far so good :y Out of curiosity i removed swmbo and it went up to £160 and she is younger than me. :o :o
I really am confused by Insurance as a Citroen 1.6VTS, same year as the Mig costs £60 more than the mig to insure............something not quite right here. Just playing on Confused.com. ::) ::)

Having 2 people on the policy means that the driving will be shared (obviously), so statistically speaking that means both of you have just reduced the time you are on the road so you have also reduced your chances of an accident.

That fits, My dad has put me on his insurance for his Motorhome, and it reduced his costs substansialy.  I told him that it was because the insurance company guessed that a 'Younger' driver would be using it for some of the time, therefore reducing risk of him driving... ;D Not sure he like my explanation.... ::) ::)

Age?
Number of years driving?
No claims?
Convictions?

I added myself as a named driver to the old lady's insurance for the Mig (although I didn't need to as I have a traders policy) and it never made a blind bit of difference.

Interestingly though, her premium was reduced by almost £50 when she declared that she also had a motorcycle.
Again, I can only guess the insurance company saw that to mean she would spend less time behind the wheel, hence the risk is reduced.
