Going to need to do some towing shortly so have been wondering what is best option to tow an Omega..

[size=10][size=10][size=11][size=12]1, Use a towing dolly
         
          or

2, Buy a Trailer

Andy,
Buy a trailer will be cheaper in the long run. The trouble with using a dolly iirc is the car needs mot and insurance. Wil be better to get a trailer as at least when you buy more migs you can just go yourself without the need for a second driver.

You dont say wether auto or manual, but if auto, you shouldnt tow an auto more than a few miles and pretty slowly as well.

Rent a trailer mate. if you dont have a lot of experience in towing a dolly would give you a heart attack.

Few, that's a relief, i was hoping for an answer like that. For a second i thought you was going say an Omega. Not good to tow a trailer with an Omega on board with an Omega.
My mate some years back towed a Fiesta on a trailer with a Fiesta & went through the hedge, wrote both cars & trailer off. His insurance wouldn't pay out, because of the weight he was pulling. We do alot of towing at work, for the big jobs we have a Discovery V6 TDi & man what a towing machine :y :y :y :y

Someone did suggest that it would be ok to tow an Omega with an Omega but i knew the complications beforehand but i can believe many people do go about it this way ;D ;D

that what i use the mv6 for. you go by the gtw on your chasis plate. i think mine is up to 4.3t.. as long as you  dont overload the tow bar which will also affect your axle weights. my trailer is 21ft long so is easy to get near enough with no weigh bridge.

A trailer every time Andy, I suppose all that remains for you to decide is, if buying, whether you have sufficient work for a trailer to do, or should you just hire as needed.

I have a similarly sized trailer which is without doubt useful - when I need it - but it's a bloody nuisance to store and to secure when I don't :y
