I'm gonna be busy...
« on: 13 February 2007, 12:39:33 »

Not only has a cracking flaw affecting IE7 and Firefox been disclosed, an absolute cracker on Solaris whereby anyone can log on to telnet if they know the userid (password not required), including 'root'. Guess my day is going to be logging on to several hundred servers ensuring telnet isn't running (shouldn't be, should all be ssh, but need to check).

The beauty of telnet is that unless no-one ever logs into it, it's so damn easy to snoop the password that it might as well be open :D

Apprently that bug has been present for many years too, just been disclosed now!

Saying that, my favourite is still the Microsoft Office one, arbitrary code execution just by opening an Excel document.... so many people will open such attachments without a second thought as they're supposedly non-executable, especially with Excel's security settings turned up. It's been in the wild for a few weeks now and still no sign of a patch. http://secunia.com/advisories/24008

I've been saying IE7 and FF2 are jacked since they came out!  ::)  :P
