No mate, no problems at all. I was made redundent in October last year. I went straight to the Job Center, signed on & was in reciept of cash pittance within a few days. I suggest you go back or ring up the Job Center to discuss your problem.

i was on employment and support allowance, for 4 months they had to ring my doctors for confirmation of my doctors certificates, according to them they have nmever recieved any. they suspended my claim as they also reckon i never sent in a medical questionare, i did not recieve benefits for 2 months which i still have not had. they have never replied to any of my mail and now i have recieved a letter saying i have to pay my benefits back. i am furious and so stressed from this letter i recieved on tuesday. i have been trying to ring the office for over 7 days now but cannot get through so cant talk to them. according to them all my post that i sent to them has been lost due to post office errors. what a frigging load of b****x. total incompetence on there part. they have even asked me to supply letters from my friends to prove that i have borrowed money off them if thats how ive been getting money to live on.  >:( >:( >:( >:(

My brother had exactly this problem but with JSA. They left him (and his girlfriend and baby) with nothing to pay the rent or buy food for 3 months. My mum and dad were fortunately in a position to help out. This was after being made redundant too.

Thats true. Mate of mine was unemployed for few months last year. Was told he would have to wait 1 year before eligable to apply to retrain. What a load of nonsense!! First time in his life he had no job, decent hardworking guy who had no desire to sit around and pick up the pittance they shell out, wants to do something about it and is told hang about for a year!! The majotity of people who do get a place are knucklescrapers who dont  want to be there but are forced into it so they can keep claiming the dole all the while having no intention of learning any skills let alone actually getting a job at the end of it! >:( >:(

Signed on for a few weeks earlier this year, but didn't have any real problems except after I got a job and had an agreed start date they insisted that I came in to sign the register when there was only one day between that and me starting - seemed a complete waste of time.

Another thing worth checking for is any grants that you can take advantage of.  I was out of work for about two months, but I got signed up for a Warm Front grant for the loft/cavity wall insulation.  It was done for free.  I returned to work before the insulation was done - and I checked numerous times to make sure I wasn't going to be charged for it, and I haven't.  On top of that I got a letter a few weeks back telling me that my grant had been extended and I was eligible for an additional grand or so - and would I like my central heating replaced?  Yes I would sir...  so that's been done, and still for gratis.
...worth checking for.  I'm certainly glad I did.

i went to sign on last friday, i was having a nice conversation with the rather attractive girl that dealt with me, she was very sympathetic & told me that they have had orders to find ways of stopping peoples benefit at a rate of 4 per week >:( she aslo said that the way people fill out their job search book has changed, this she said was an attempt to get the figure higher than 4 per week, so her advice to anyone is to say youve been in the j/centre every few days & searched their database, apparently saying youve looked on their site on the internet is not good enough anymore, no surprises in guessing where this new guideline has come from. >:(

No problems at my end, a very straightforward procedure. They obviously have to make a few checks before paying JSA. Did you know ( I didn't ) that there are 2 types of JSA ? Contributions based and Income based. I am on contributions based. If you are on Income based you get free prescriptions, dental etc. Other than JSA I get zero, nothing, nought. No council tax benefit, I have to pay for dental etc, don't even get reduced admission into the local swimming pool.
