My new work PC
« on: 16 June 2009, 23:14:14 »

This morning my work PC became the 3rd hard drive and the 3rd Maxtor hard drive to crash on me.

Tons of errors.

Managed to recover 98% of my repository though :y

Anyway tried another PC - dead, found another HDD - need some new smoke for the fan controller now :(.

Found another danger drive - started getting errors while installing XP.

Drove home, went in loft, dug out my old PC components. Now using my old P4 2.4 with 80GB Seagate in my old work PC case, and the best graphics card in the whole building (a very late AGP gaming card).

Work will be ordering a new machine reasonable soon - you can still get XP Pro on them too :y

Both Windows 7 and Vista are unsuitable due to lack of full screen DOS support - not all customers are moving to our latest software tomorrow.

lol, i have a adsl line on my desk that i plug a 2.4g p4 into purely for testing our servers from an unfettled, unfirewalled connection.  Its the slowest pc in the building ;D

they have currently given me a nc6400 lappy, 1.8g core duo (NOT core2 :() with 1g ram, and a poor 80g hdd  :'(
