sky news. bnp could face legal injunction....
« on: 23 June 2009, 11:30:33 »

....from the human rights commission.

constitution and membership criteria may discriminate on the grounds of race and colour, contrary to the race relations act.

In particular, only certain ethnic groups, and those of white skin colour may apply for membership.

The commission says the party may be, or may have been acting illegaly.

Sorry to bring this subject up again. But it is important.

... probably not, 'cos Membership of the NBPA is open to all in policing on application.

There is no bar to membership based on colour.

Sorry to disagree, but there is, The name alone is the bar to joining. Just because it does not say there is any bar on the application form does not mean it is open to all.

Also imagine the outcry if we had the "White Police Officers Association"  :(

Fair point on the white police officers comment, however, as to the name of the association being a bar to non blacks joining -- what's in a name?  I take it -- extrapolating your arguement, that non omega owners are barred from this forum ?????  Didn't think so!

It's not in the name -- it's in the BNP rule book !!!!!

Maybe it is in the rule book HC, but surely that is the only crime, So probably a slightly rewritten rule book will come out, it will not stop them refusing membership to certain groups, as we all no membership to something is at someone else's discretion.
And the most worring thing is all this publicity they are getting, and the UK loves the underdog. The best thing to do would be to ignore them, and they will go away, the more they are in the media and the more people who throw eggs at them the more popular they will become. If I remember properly john prescotts popularity soared after he was hit by an egg and he assaulted someone.

Knew I should not have responded to this thread. annoyed with self now.

But are those rules implemented on such an orginisation ? Do they have to meet targets of members of a different colour in there ranks ?

I have no idea. However i see that your are, as i am, keen to see equal rights across the board, and presumably are pleased to see that discriminatory organisations, in this case, the bnp (allegedly) are  being pulled up for it? Reguardless of the organisation, this is good news is it not?

You've got to be joking, how many cases have you heard about where a white person has succesfully sued for racial descrimination, I bet its a fraction of the total cases.
