So...  Proof of calibration at the start and finish of the shift, is it?

Notebook entry to say its been done?  Would that suffive?  Most courts think so....

Takes the same length of time to do as it does to write.  Does that mean it was actually carried out?   

Kit thats a laser range finder is, apparently, the LTI2020, I think.

Personally, if travelling at a few leptons faster than you should have been, and you know you were, why argue? 

Totally agree.  But after seeing how in acurate they can be.  if i was caught and within the 10% in my mind i feel I would have to challenge it, especiaally after seeing how poor they are on video. (Under calibrating)

A good one for a court visit.  (has been posted before)

Two British traffic patrol officers from North Berwick were involved in an unusual incident while checking for speeding motorists on the A1 Great North Road. One of the officers used a hand-held radar device to check the speed of a vehicle approaching over the crest of a hill, and was surprised when the speed was recorded at over 300 mph. Their radar suddenly stopped working and the officers were not able to reset it.

Just then a deafening roar over the treetops revealed that the radar had in fact latched on to a RAF Tornado fighter jet which was engaged in a low-flying exercise over the Border district, approaching from the North Sea.

Back at police headquarters the chief constable fired off a stiff complaint to the RAF Liaison office.

Back came the reply in true laconic RAF style:

"Thank you for your message, which allows us to complete the file on this incident. You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Tornado had detected the presence of, and subsequently locked onto, your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back to it. Furthermore, an air-to-ground missile aboard the fully-armed aircraft had also automatically locked onto your equipment. Fortunately the pilot flying the Tornado recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile systems alert status, and was able to override the automated defence system before the missile was launched and your hostile radar installation was destroyed"

So - what would be the fine on that one?

Well known urban myth....  The police force in question changes in relation to the nearest RAF establishment....

Don't know how it is in UK but in my country the cop is let's say "representative of the law" and although he doesn't show you the picture in court or to you his word is more valid than yours.
I've had two times argument with them cause those damn crocks taken another reading of another car and stopped me even when I wasn't speeding. That sh.. called laser allows for a heavy manipulation from police side.

reckon i would just pay the fine......saves the rozzers marking your car and you end up getting pulled every 5 mins!
