I am glad to see that most of the copyright breaching Maintenence Guides on the other site have been taken down - that was blatant plagurism. There are enough stickies across our Maintenence Guides section, and enough details in our Forum Rules that clearly indicate will will take action against anyone effectively stealing our content pretending its their own.
The Admins, past and present, have spent a great deal of time and money researching various things that make this site what it is. If we see it blatantly copied, we will take any necessary action against those people - sorry for the hard line on that, but we have spent 3 long years and bucketloads of cash to get to where we are. For those who think getting it right is easy, I spend more time in the back of this forum monitoring server stats, traffic flows, and tracing abnormalities, than I spend looking at the site with a browser.
The site in question, even without the removed Maintenence Guides (thanks

) is a blatant copy of OOF. Again, we spent a lot of time researching and implementing this for OOF, we do not expect, or will tolerate, other people taking the easy path and stealing our work.
Worse still, many of the (now deceased) Guides were cut and pasted in such a way that the images were still being served from
OUR images server - bandwidth costs a lot of money, money we pay so OOF members can utilise it - we do not want to pay for other sites to get free bandwidth.
Our forum rules say that you can (currently) link to our articles - linking to a
www.omegaowners.com url isn't (currently) an issue.
The name of the other forum - Vauxhall Omega Owners Forum - is also clearly a play on our name, and again is something we find unacceptable.
Whether or not another Omega forum is a good or bad thing is another debate. Personally, I don't think it is, as it splits a community. Obviously, something has happened that I don't know about that has caused this to happen. I would say that the effort in creating a forum properly would be better spent in resolving whatever the original issue was. I'm certainly all ears, and thought I always had been?
To the OP, I wish you well in your departure, and in your new venture, but please make your venture your own work, and not ours.
