Right I have had a couple of whiskeys (well actually they were v.cold beers) and so far the best answers are Harry Potter and the one by H12DVY. The harry potter one can be discounted cos it has been happening way before his time.

That leaves H12DVY's theory. I don't buy it because at midday the sun is overhead and bloody hot. The moon is also quite high so I can see both things fully with nowt in between. I would believe it if I could only see only part of the sun e.g. at sunrise or if the moon were low.

More whiskey please?

Don't worry Varche, as it is all a conspiracy! ::) ::) ::) ::)

The Moon does not really exist; it is all done by mirrors in a warehouse somewhere in Area 51! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

You're drinking the wrong whiskey.. whiskey with an "e" is the inferior Irish or American or Japanese or Indian bland brands. Go for the whisky whisky with no "e". Drink four or five stare at the sun then the moon then the sun alternately for 10 minutes then all will be revealed... whisky wasn't called moonshine for nothin ya know...  :y

here in Scotland we improvise by looking at the cloud where the moon should be then at the cloud where the sun should be etc.. but you need more whisky to fully appreciate   :D
