This story has been bubbling away for ages, but in the last 24 hours it has come to a head.
Basically, a chap called Steve McIntyre (who famously debunked the Hockey Stick temperature graph used by Al Gore) has been trying to take a look at the Met Office temperature records. Actually, it's not just the records, since the MetOffice (along with other organisations) uses algorithms to play with the data to iron out errors etc., and it is this methodology taht needs to be checked. Incidentally, the Met Office is very much on the alarmist side of global warming propaganda, as you can see from their website.
However, the Office is refusing to hand over the information, even after a FOI request. It is throwing up all sorts of excuses, such as national security, poor record keeping and so on.
The question is why? The main protagonist in all this is a climate modeller called Phil Jones, who works up at the Hadley Centre/UEA in Norwich. When first asked by McIntyre for the data he incredibly said:
"Even if WMO agrees, I will still not pass on the data. We have 25 or so years invested in the work. Why should I make the data available to you, when your aim is to try and find something wrong with it."Er, that's the way science works, Mr Jones. If there is nothing wrong with it, why not let it out? If there IS something wrong with it, we need to know.
Read the link in full and feel embarrassed to be a taxpayer footing the bill for this bunch of jokers.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/environment/climatechange/5894601/Natural-England-will-consider-wind-farms-in-national-parks.htmlThis whole thing is a scam of gigantic proportions that
will affect us all, adversely I might add.
