Took the bike out
« on: 25 July 2009, 18:05:39 »

Took the Yam out today for a blast, did 94 miles  :o Still feel quite fresh, not as bad as i used to be after that kind of distance. Been a couple of weeks since i been out, after 40 miles or so i really started to get into it, leaning much better into the corners.

Went to a few bike shops trying on helmets with built in sun glasses, sadly none were as comfy as my shoei, so i might look at a new visor instead.

I called by Harley Davidson garage in Towcester on the way back, sat on one of these:

Must say it was quite comfy! Was a bit strange having my feet so far forward. Whilst i was sat on it pressing buttons and such, a customer next to me was arguing about a test ride. He did not have his paper part of the license so he was not allowed out, but he kept trying his luck.

When he left, i casually mentioned, speaking of test rides....  ::)

I went on and was completely truthful, i said i passed at the start of the year, and only ridden a couple of bikes, and can i have a go. He said no problem, bring all the details and you can take one tomorrow  :D

Hope the weather stays the same as today!

You wouldn't catch me buying one, but that V-Rod really is a piece of art.

If I was tempted to a cruiser I would go for a Rocket III.

BTW, the dealer might ask you to sign for a £1000 insurance excess on the test ride.

Enjoy

are dark/tinted visors available these days? Whats the legal position with them now? Always used to carry a clear visor in a helmet bag round my ribs under my jacket for night ridding, or getting pulled by the plod.
Bugger that Harley, not ridden one but front wheel looks too far out front to me. One panic brake or over hard squeeze on the lever and that heavy motor will push the front wheel out from under you. Looks ok....ish.....for a Harley...

The V-Rod has some serious grunt (as does the Rocket III). Both will give even the quickest sports bikes a hard time up to a ton.
Different story if there's a bend involved tho. ;D Although for cruisers, they actually handle quite well.

Really wouldn't advise a test ride on something like a V-Rod if it's wet though.
Leave it for dry day :y  (There's one due in 2011 :D)
