Put the BMW on ebay, went on at 22:55, it's had a bid already, 2 watchers and 1 bloke just offered me £7500 cash tomorrow by text, god I'm buzzing right now  ;D Reserve is set at £8000 not taking no less that that to be honest, can't believe how quick that happened  :o :o
I always suspected the country was full of mad idiots :P

;D

They are  ;D  ;D
Jealousy is a cruel and callous jive  ;) ;)
I've been (un)lucky enough to have borrowed many, many exec german cars, particularly BMW (my family seems to only buy BMW). Yes, they are a good car (mostly, though a fair few 'friday afternoon' ones). BUT they are not a great car.

A 5 series is on about a par with an Omega handling wise, performance wise (for similar engine) and reliability wise.

One is an awful lot cheaper than the other, and doesn't have the "I'm a junior double glazing saleman" badge.

I agree, 20yrs ago, a BMW was something to strive for. Now, its something best avoided.

Omega does handle well but I find BMW's go where you want it to go very direct steering, Omega's steering is no where near as direct at all, BM holds the road a lot better in the dry at least, now mercs I find them best avoided, some of them diesel mercs though are stonkingly quick but them again don't handle as well as the BM does, I just find beemers a much more quality product.

LOL, quality and BMW aren't 2 words I'd have the nerve to put in same sentence ;D

Whatever works for you, thats what counts :y.  I wouldn't say to anyone dont buy BMW. All I would say is I wouldn't buy a current one, or anything they built in the last 20years (including Mini).

If you are saying your bog standard 3 series outhandles your Omega, I think you need to look at whats wrong with your Omega.

I do think (and absolutely no offense intended) that some people think they/their cars are somehow better because of a BMW badge on the front:

M Sport 3 series, sports suspension, compared to MV6 Omega, 3 series wins hands down to be honest.

But note the wink after I said felt I was being flash  :)

I will agree that M series and Alpina are a different kettle of fish. But only on a proper M ;).

Couple of guys at work have M3s, though from my own experience, I reckon the Alpina handles slightly better (may be due to less power?).  That said, only driven 1 3 series Alpina, so that may not be an ideal sample to make generalisations on

but the M3 is quicker (up to its speed limiter - then the Alpina comes sailing by. Apparently ::).)

Love M3's, whoever invented the speed limiter was stupid  ;)

To be expected on Ebay. I put my crappy old Mondeo TD up for sale the other day, £249 start and £499 BIN, some bloke offered me £275 for "quick sale"  :-? , I said no ta, next day someone does the BIN and pops round with the cash in hand, they didnt even drive it!

Doesnt matter what you sell, some idiot will always try and offer peanuts in the hope you will be desperate!

Good luck btw, nice motor you have there, i had a 325i E36 and it was a cracking car.
