Any Android Experts?
« on: 02 August 2009, 19:09:17 »

So far i am loving my G2, its so much more customizable than the iphone and has some brilliant applications, Symbian is dead!

My previous phone was a Windows Mobile HTC SPV m3100, cracking phone until i killed it

I am now setting up my new HTC Magic G2, for my carrier, but I am getting the same problem with my HTC Magic as i did with the m3100 regarding MMS images, the problem is the handset is not recognized with my carrier (O2)

So when i send a mms from another handset to my phone, because its unrecognized with o2, they send me the smallest image possible.

With my old m3100, i was using a cooked ROM - Black Satin (which caused ident at o2 to fail), i had to alter the user agent in the registry settings to fool o2 into thinking my phone was a different (supported) handset which gave me decent size mms.

I would alter the UA like this (after i downloaded a registry editor for WM)

HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader\x-wap-Profile

Can i do the same with Andriod?

Not pleased with o2, just because they don't sell the handset they choose to not recognize it  >:(

How about exporting the registry key before you change it then do the change.
If it doesn't work you can always change it back.
Worst case it buggers up and you have to hard reset.
Have you had a search round Modaco, they are usually pretty good on info for network settings.

Bit out of touch with the phone scene nowadays, thought HTC would have more sense than leave the winmo fold.
Better the devil you know kind of thing. ;D

Its not googles fault, it has nothing to do with the os. Its the fact o2 refuse to identify. And force resize my mms to the smallest size
