Normal signs of hoax are wording like "pass on to everyone you know" and big firms "Microsoft/IBM/Apple/HP say there is no cure" and "it will wipe your hard disk"

It is purely a scam, like all chain letters, to retrieve information for the bad guys - in this case, they want your valuable email address...

What annoys me is the presumption that I don't know how to manage my own security.  At the same time, my email address is usually in the 'To' field being distributed to all manner of people that I neither know or wish to know.

I got one from a Company Director of a firm I was working for and it had a link supposedly supporting the scare.  When I clicked on the link it was a responsible site that dismissed the item as a scam, and an old one at that.  Clearly this person had not even clicked the link before passing it on to all and sundry.

IF people feel compelled to pass on such warnings, they should "BC" (Blind Copy) all the friends they want to lose rather than "To" or "CC" them.

Rant probably not over! ;D

IMPORTANT!!!!! READ IMMEDIATELY AND PASS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW Someone is sending out a very cute screensaver of the Budweiser Frogs. If you download it, you will lose everything! Your hard drive will crash and someone from the Internet will get your screen name and password! DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! It just went into circulation yesterday. Please distribute this message.

1) Unless it decided to remove itself from the 4 screws holding it secure, and for the 4 or however many discs inside the hard drive decide to rip apart and crash against the case its physical impossibility.

2) WTF?

Who actually belives this shite? If its an e-mail with lots of nice images and such, its most probably a phishing scam, with some code in the background of the mail to get your e-mail adress and send it back to the orginal source.

If do get the above, do not send it to anyone.

Many people do believe these things are true. They are mainly people who are not as computer 'savy' as us. My Dad is one for a start  ;D ;D :y
