A lot of these cheap tools (and that includes most of the machine mart / Clarke offerings) come by the container load from China and just get badged up as Rolson, Clarke, or whatever by the retailer.

Some is reasonable stuff, some total rubbish. A guy I know has a few contacts with purchasers in China and has organised a couple of "bulk buys" of a container load of this type of stuff in the past. Without the retail markup on it's amazing how cheap it is.

King Dick tools are very nice. Got let loose with a cabinet load of them a couple of years back building a Westfield at a car show. The whole cabinet got raffled off when we'd finished the build. Sadly my number didn't come up. :'(

It's not just tools from China Kevin. Lots of electrical goods, tv's etc., from Eastern Europe, look exactly the same, have the same manual, but are branded differently.
