Just as some find it funny & some don't, you can't please everyone.
I personally didn't find it funny & diabetes has never affected me in any way. Some things i find funny, but other's don't.
Don't appologise ;)

...very sensible comment Pete :y :y

so are 2 of my mates and they thought it was funny. was not meant to offend but light humour, but im sure you know that. nearly all jokes are about someone or something regarding someone so i guess jokes should be banned in case it offends anyone.  ok

... I know quite a few people with this frustrating and sometimes distressing condition and can assure you that the level of black humour they employ as a result is quite surprising.

Most of those have in fact have laughed at this self same joke but others have not, you'll never have a consensus.

I know that they try and lead a normal life whilst managing this condition and would not feel the need to be treated differently or given special consideration.

I found the joke funny but don't think I was being disrespectful to those I know with the condition.

Keep the jokes coming Richie we all need a laugh - God knows I do :y :y

I'm on type II at the moment and still arsing around with tablets. Dreding the day it deteroriates into Type I. :(

At least you wont have to worry about injecting yourself with a syringe  for your insulin ,they have pens and pre-filled devices now .  :y :y :y :y
Pens etc. still have needles & then there's also the finger pricking for blood samples to test 3 or 4 times a day. There but for fortune...............

But think positive, your daughter will never have to pay perscrition charges, as I don't! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) ;)

Agreed Zulu!!!! :y :y :y :y

I have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, plus other problems, but I joke about everything as I have a black sense of humour which I release especially when things are really bad.  That is the way I can handle things.  Others cannot use that method and have other ways of dealing with things.  No method is right or wrong as thank God we are all different, with life affecting us differently and our response the same. 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) ;)

Therefore some jokes are funny to some, to others certainly not.  That is life, and unless we ban all jokes that challenge will never be satisfactorily overcome.  Such is life!! ::) ::) ::) ;) ;)

when the wife was pregnant with our son she had really bad problems controlling her sugars . it would just drop leading to a hypo .  The hospital gave me a needle and syringe filled with all sorts of stuff to bring her back around, it was the size of a ww2 aircraft carrier .I even drew a bulls eye on her stomach so I'd get the right spot . So she sees the size of the injection  and her sugars behave themselves.
I was really, really looking forward to injecting her with that i was hoping it might of shut her up for a bit

It really depends on who has the diabetes. For example I have diabetes, therefore I found it amusing and wasn't offended. But thinking about it, had it been my son or daughter (or close family member) that had the condition, then perhaps I might have not found it so funny.

I think thats human nature, to be more protective over loved ones.  :-?

I found the joke quite funny to be honest. However I was laughing more at the fact I wasn't expecting the needles to be from a diabetic person. (If that makes sense).

Like wise with most jokes, you tend to either like / dislike them or are offended by them.

There you go! After I put that post on I was a little concerned as to how zippo would take it, as obviously it's a sensitive matter.

He laughed. :y

That's how it should be on here, no offence meant, just a little light hearted and topical humor.
I dont think anything on here sould be taken seriously, and if something is mentioned that is a little close to the bone, then the offender should in no way renaige on an apology.

My two cents for what it's worth!

Good on ya Zippo! :y
