Any Scalxtric experts ?
« on: 24 August 2009, 19:18:51 »

I bought myself a Scalextric night stages set at a boot sale yesterday, needs new tyres all round for the Ford Escorts, but otherwise mint.  Set me back £4!
Anyway, I need to source the right type of tyres for this set.
There is a number on the box of C.850, and the tyre width is 9mm, O/D is 17.5mm, and I/D is 11.5mm.

So far 'tinternet hunting hasn't found me the right rubber for these yet, as the C.850 No. doesn't seem to come up anywhere.

I realise that this is in danger of becoming yet another tyre thread  ::)

Can anyone help?

Does anyone have a couple of cheap cars they can sell me for the kids to bash up?

Knackered tyres (or tyres rubbed in marge, but don't tell my mum!) adds to the fun ::)

I love scaelextric. As said have a look on ebay or see if there's a toyfair near you.
Ebay sellers do list "scrapyards" which in real terms is parts/broken cars which you can scource parts from. :y

Used to use the odd drop of 3 in 1..... :D :D :D

Used to have a massive set, 3 tier at some points, was always fixing the cars, the kids I looked after could crash them faster than I could fix them ::) ::) Ended up having to limit the number of crashes or they lost their turn.  Found parts easily from a good model shop, this was pre ebay... ::) ::)

Well thanks to Killerwatt I've found the model numbers fro the cars - C441 XR3i Texaco, and C446 XR3i Supasnaps.
What do you use to glue the pinion gear to the motor output shaft, and the wheels to the axles?
Superglue?  Should i use a bit of silicone grease in the axle bearings?
