Some are suggesting that either it is a viral marketing campaign by some clever types at comparethemeerkat.com  (in violation of the Guardian's Comment is Free facility), or

Peter Jones is really a certifiable loony and the Guardian is too pathetic to even wrap your chips in.

Incidentally, Peter Jones is the name one of the Dragons (of Dragons Den fame) and he fronts a rival comparison site...
