I thought we'd moved on from this thuggery...
« on: 25 August 2009, 22:17:43 »

A man has been stabbed in the chest during violence involving "hundreds" of fans outside West Ham's Upton Park stadium during a game with Millwall.

Major violence at league matches has not been a big issue for a few years, or so I thought. I'm not a big time football fan, to be honest.  :-[

Very predictable. This game should have been played behind 'closed doors' .
Trouble been organised over the internet since the draw was made.
Lots of troubled history between these two since a Millwall fan was thrown under a train a few years ago.

Shame,as it sounded like a good game. Will be lots more trouble after the game tonight.

Sadly given the mentality of the minority of football fans this will keep happening.
Certainly no need for such neanderthal behavior. :(

sadly the Premiership is such big business that any negative stories get suppressed by most papers - fearful of upsetting the great and powerful wizards who get a bit huffy
fact is football is still a breeding ground for violence, racism and homophobia - yes its improved (mainly because Sky demanded a clean up - those pitchside mics pick up everything) but i always find it bizarre when the police congratulate fans for behaving - did i miss a memo or something? you get congratulated for not behaving so badly you get arrested? when did that become necessary in civilised society? :o

.......you might be right Nick but the worrying trend here is that whenever people congregate in large groups in support of whatever emotional subject in question, the threat of violence breaking out never seems far from the surface.

I think that this is beginning to show just how far tolerance has been wiped from the platter of civilised and reasonable behaviour in our broken society.

A friend of mine is a big West Ham fan and he told me at the weekend it was all going to "go off" at this match. He's a member on one of the West Ham web sites and he said he was contacted by someone he used to know that was a bit of an old West Ham  footie hooligan saying that this thuggery was being planned and did he want to be a part of it!! :o Needless to say my friend "politely" refused but it just goes to show that it was indeed all pre-planned thuggery by bloody moronic thugs!! >:( >:( >:(
The Police should have plenty of TV and CCTV footage to identify and round up these morons. Best thing to do with those morons caught would be to put them all in Army uniforms and send them to Afghanistan.......without any weapons!! :y

Millwall fans have been looking for fights for decades, and when playing the Hammers what do we expect!  It is going to kick off at some stage!

They are obviously keen to enter a war, so I agree conscript them to the army, and after training put them on the front line in Afghanistan! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) ;)
