 did you know that the Moon's circumference is just over 1/4 of the Earths circumference!

personally i thought it was much smaller  :y

BTW: Did you know that the symbol for Pi was first proposed by a Welshman?.......(William Jones: 1706);)

imagine a length of rope wrapped around the earths circumference and pulled tight OK?

so that rope is 40000km long (approx)

now imagine you wanted that rope to be 1 foot above ground all the way round - how much longer would the rope have to be?


guess away - you won't believe the answer (unless you're cem and you calculate it)  :y

not bad stmo, the answer (and i just worked it out) is you only need to add 6'3" to the length of the rope to give you 1 foot of clearance around the planet - isn't that freaky?  :-? :-?
