Would this work and anyone done it?

Probably only work on cars with secondary air injection

I was thinking that if you disconnected the air supply from the non-return valve and replaced it with a supply from the engine breather...thinking of the thicker one that branches into a V on the v6 engines

In theory the heat of the exhausts would burn off any nasties.....no 'dirty air' going into the plenum.

well?

Just had a re-think I doubt (certainly hope) that the pressure in the engine wouldnt be enough to 'push' the breather gases past the non-return valve that is being kept closed by exhaust pressure

You would need crank case pressure....and god help you if the return valve ever failed!

Not a go'er......you need engine vaccum to remove crank fumes idealy...
