Just heard that my parents veccy B has succumed to the dodgy petrol.  I'm going to try blowtorching the lambda sensor (read that somewhere) but if that fails then I need a new one.

I don't have a TC card yet but reckon it will be worth it if the discount on this is big enough.  Does anyone know whether lambda sensors are on TC and if so what the rough discount is (car in question is 1997 X18XE).  THat would help me decide to shell out the £20 to get TC card.

Also, any suggestions of the place to get non OE from?

thanks guys.  Have reset the ECU twice now and the light comes back on so it is starting to look like a permenant problem, hence the search for a new sensor.

Glad I'm sitting down for this, that's the best part of £100 for a new sensor.........

I can probably get a non OE one a bit cheaper so I'm going to go searching.  Will post results here to help others that may need a new sensor.  Having said that I've just read the 'dodgy petrol' thread and the plan of action is to wait a few weeks to see if it clears.

My next problem is working out if it has done some lasting damage to the cat (not sure how I can tell here?  will I get an EML on or do I need to drop it in to a garage to do the MOT emission test thing to make certain?)  If the cat has gone then there will be a veccy B on the market soon that needs a new cat.....

Non OE is not a route that is recommended.  Pattern sensors very often, so I am told, fail quite quickly so it is a false economy really.  However, if you are not keeping the car......................

To test the cat, you would need to see if a MOT station would check it out for you.  Hopefully, you will have got away with it.
