Intelligent CCTV?
« on: 23 September 2009, 23:21:38 »

This beggars belief.

"A new generation of Minority Report-style security cameras that can detect criminals before they strike could be in operation across Britain within five years, scientists claim.

The CCTV technology identifies suspicious individuals and behaviour and then acts to stamp out crimes before they happen...

...Criteria that ISIS will look for are likely to include clothing such as hooded tops, sudden movements, odd behaviour such as moving seats and verbal aggression.

When a crime looks like it is going to occur, the system will verbally warn the perpetrator and then if necessary alert the nearest police officer."

So a computer will decide if you look a bit "iffy" and call PC Plod?  :-?

Sometimes I think I've unwittingly stumbled into a parallel universe, where everything is either daft or frightening.  :o

sudden movements and voice analysis are the easiest keys.. and not so complicated to program..

its a proven fact that a person going for a criminial behaviour many things change in body (blood pressures change , breathing will change, adrenaline increase, voice tone change etc etc)

Also happens when a man chats up a pretty girl wearing a short black skirt!  ;) ;D ;D ;D

(Or, for the girls, when you chat up a fireman in full gear!  ;)  ;D )

Are these criminal actions? Well, not at the moment, but wait for the eugenic crowd to rule the planet!!  ;) ;D ;D

No. no, no Nick, your eyes have befallen a glimpse of the Brave New Britain, soon to cascade from the pupae  of the most sinister administration in recent memory.

It's real, very real.

jeezuz, i thought the whole point of living in a free society was we didn't have to put up with these infringements to our liberties  >:(

i read recently that CCTV accounts for 1 in 1000 crimes being prevented! so really, what is the purpose? we've become a nation of paranoid freaks, its sickening and saddening

Well, apart from anything else, the flaw with this idea is that there are already not enough police officers on the street to deal with what has to be dealt with!!! ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

That is one of the reasons why CCTV actually rarely ever catches criminals; it is officers on the ground that do! ;) ;)
