Brackley is a hell of a way to go....

You could be up for an 'all expenses paid' holiday in Scotland..........
Just remember to bring the caravan ...... and a porta-loo!   ;D  ;D

wooooooooo hey hold on!!!!

I will put Jamie up - give him access to anything he wants board / bed / drink / food / tools  :y...

Jamie - it's not getting in there that's the problem, it's getting them to let you go back...  ;D

Does anyone know roughly what a dealer would charge to do the upgrade? I'd go to TB but by the time I've paid for fuel it will probably work out cheaper at Vaux!

Spoke to 2 different lookers .... £82 each time
Spoke to a local Dickens .... £44, here we go!  Then I said what I wanted, cue the sucking of air through teeth, Sorry mate dont want to do that, did a 2.2 Omega and it went wrong, had to go searching for an old disk to put it back, dont want to go through that again!
Sounds like a 2.2 was a 2.2 anything to them, same engine must be ok, sounded like they put the vx220 software on the omega and wondered why it didn't work!
The search continues.

Watch them do it, and you should see on TIS the version you are at, and what it is taking it to.  If they don't plug it in to TIS, they are pulling a fast one...

Cheers for that, will try to be in with the action.

To confirm procedure,
1 end of tech2 plugged in the car, the other plugged into a pc?
how long should it take?

Procedure is:
Plug tech2 into car, and read g/box ecu.
Go and plug tech2 into PC, and get PC to read ECU data from Tech2. PC then determines correct software for g/box (and show your current and new version numbers) and downloads to Tech2.
Plug Tech2 back in car to do that actual flash.
Switch off ignition for 30s then back on.

Cheers, nice to know the info beforehand.

If only you were a bit more local, or I travelled your way more often, then I could relax.

Well TheBoy may not work out cheaper than your local Vx dealer if you have to travel from afar, but on the other hand he is sure to get it right first time round, while Vx.... need I say more? :o

My vote was not yet done, not true anymore.

I beleived the hype, the boy too far, so booked it in locally - had quotes from £36 - £96! so shop around.

The other 1/2 was very sceptical, don't waste your money etc, but I persevered and went ahead, as it was cheap in the end.

Drove back, and wow, could tell the difference before I even left the car park, car seemed quieter, smoother, more powerful.

Got home and raved about it, got some funny disbeleiving looks, so we went for a drive....

5 minutes after getting home, hers is now booked in for the update.

What more of a good impression can that be, not doing it once, but twice!

how does the advert go, 'If you can, you should!'

(MV6 done, 2.2 CDX being done tomorrow)

Would have loved to have brought both cars down for a similar amount of work, an 8 month pregnant wife, however means a bit of a travelling / drinking ban :(

Maybe next time :)
