So New Labour may well be finished...................but consider this.
Apparently..................fourteen of David Camerons front bench spokesmen............are Old Etonians.....and another three work in his private office.
some of these inept.....incompetent.......pompous.....inbred....Tory buffoons......date back as far as the Thatcher era. :-/ :-/ :-/
Now I'am not a big fan of New Labour..(they have flattered to deceive)...............but I fail to see how a gathering of "sore bottomed" public school boys. ...could be of any help to the average man in the street......................Unless they are wealthy ......of course.

I would have to disagree.These bumbling public school types,who are (or were) educated to be leaders (insufferable arrogance of course) have led the country many times in the past,some brilliant some useless but none of them imo could ever come remotely close to causing the damage that this lot have caused during their time in office.If we want genuine working class people to lead us I think we will have to leave it for a few generations until the memory of the incoherent,unintelligable(and also as bent as any politician)- John Prescott has faded sufficiently. ;The worst ones imo are the ones from upper class backgrounds who try to hide the fact because they went all lefty at uni,an act of youthful rebelliousness that they end up turning into a career,Harriet Harperson is an example who springs to mind.Comes over as a slightly middle class career lady but is actually the niece of the 14th duke of poncenby smythness (or something like that).

As I said to Lizzie yesterday.........we need ....educated.....intelligent......articulate..........and informed.....people to be in government.....we simply could not take a bunch of Manual workers .....shop workers ......exhaust fitters etc ..etc.......(much as I would love it to be possible)
So in my view........... University education is fine......but public schools like Eton......are so artificial.......insular............isolated from the real world...............and out of touch with "ordinary people"....that in my opinion....are unfit to produce a good PM

And Etonians can't be in-bred as they're all male and the last time I checked, you need a female for breeding purposes.

And Etonians can't be in-bred as they're all male and the last time I checked, you need a female for breeding purposes.  

We all agree on that one.......but quite why  a bunch of arrogant......out of touch...rich kids with a "nanny"............living together in an unnatural insular existence should be considered "more capable"and superior human beings than the rest of us.....escapes me.

I don't regard them as superior human beings at all.
As far as being arrogant, what is your basis for that comment? How many Old Etonians have you met? Yes, they come from wealthy backgrounds. But why should you have a problem with that?

I am prepared to happily accept that there are some real prats that come out of Eton, but then percentage-wise, I would imagine that there is a similar amount of prats that originate from your local comprehensive.

My admittedly limited experience of "old money"people is that they tend to be genuine people with a deeply ingrained sense of responsibility,fair play and good manners.But my experience of "new money" people is  that they have a tendency to be insecure and therefore assume you are not to be trusted,they dont have these old ingrained attributes of responsibility etc,just grab what you can while you can and dont let anyone get near it.Cherie Blair would appear to be a classic example of this - all fur coat and no knickers type of attitude.No class.
A bit of a generalisation maybe ,but thats the impression I have been left with.
