Digitol Camera Repairs.
« on: 22 September 2009, 23:36:51 »

Anyone know of a cheap, trust worty and realible outlet to repair my camera.

Tis now Fubared.

Dug out the cable, took all the pics off.

Set it to auto, and just got a white view screen.  flicked between rear screen and the mini view lens, still the same.

Took some pics even though the rear screen was white to see if it still worked, took the pics off and they are just white blanks.

Noticed as I moved the screen that it flickered so am asuming it is a contact trpe issue.

Any suggestions for repair would be appreciated.  Not worth that much by todays standards  but would be nice to have it fully working again.

TIA.  :y

Camera is a Fuji S5000 about 6 years old.

I agree, throw it away and buy another one ::) personally I hate this 'throw away society' that we seem to have today, but technology is such that stuff is so cheap, relatively, to produce and for the most part not easily repaired :( not like our day when you fixed your TV by replacing a valve.... :D :D

Once I realised it was Fubar it did consider using one of my old fixit it methods, fortunately there wasn not a table near by for me to bang it on.

If it shows images from a previously recorded card, that would suggest its the sensor at fault. You  might be able to get to get one that has lens damage or been dropped and get the sensor changed over, but as has been said it can cost more to buy spares than to get a new camera.

I have just received a couple of Minolta 7i's, new sensors fitted by Sony, and they are only worth £60. Its frightening when you consider these cost best part of £700 when new, not long ago.

You just decribed me in a nutshell there Bill.  Bought the camera with a few to learn all about it.  Found out how to do the movie thing and that the auto setting was good enough and never looked back.   :-/

These were the last pictures taken with the camera trying to do a bit of bird watching (Not bloody easy at all some of the time)   All on Auto setting, this is where the manual stuff would have been better, plus I was playing with the zoom which is where I realised this camera was just not up to it.  Last pic is full zoom.

Looks like the lens was dirty as well.
