I have clicked the box to recieve notification of replies, but have not recieved them, is there something else I need to do please?
  I have double checked my email address is entered correctly in my profile.

AFAIK, the notification doesn't come into your mail box - it's a notice that appears in the left-hand side of the OOF Banner, under where it says how many new PM's you have?

I get the PM notification at the top, but I also get a copy of the PM as an email.

In your profile, under options, there is a Post and Board Notifications section, that has a tiny Notify me by Email box - easily missed.
