Utility Services
« on: 07 October 2009, 14:42:21 »

Have had ongoing disputes with Gas and Electric over the past 2 years on the monthly payments and the stupid ammoounts they wanted to charge me.

I have allways been in credit and pay by monthly DD/SO.  After the last increases I demned they were brought back down from the new payments thay gave me and they were reduced by £15 for Gas and £12 for Electric.

Just terminated all the bills to the old house today.

£128 refund from Yorkshire Electric
£ 67 refund from Brittish Gas
£  4.00 to Yorkshire Water and thats on a meter.

Pkus got my £122.50 connection charge back from BT
Since had a £77 rebate from them as well
Plus a pair of DECT phones they screwed up on worth £98.

Christmas came early for me and I dont even believe in it. ::)

Well done Skruntie.

I have found you have to be really firm with these people. Our Gas/Electric company wanted to up our monthly charge to £150 and water to £55 a month.

I did some sums and rang them and told them I wasn't paying it and when they questioned it I told them I had done my own sums and what I wanted to pay. After some arguing they agreed to my figures. :y

I moved into my last home just over 12 years ago, the water eates were £121 PA.  Had a wawater meter fitted, most I have ever paid is £12 moth (Max)  Current rates on old and new homes are now £367, I paid £7 a month last year at the last place

But I live alone, quick daily shower, 2 wash loads a week, maybe 3 or 4 washloads on accasions.  So the water meter works well for me.

Spot on  :y

They send me the bill, and they get their money (cash only) once I'm satisfied that everything is in order.

I am with E-On now (Long Story that has been posted)  They combined the bills for Gas and Electric, So Far I owe £13.60ish.  Phoned them up and asked if that was for both, or just Gas  or Leccy.

Ladiy replied Leccy, then said my Gas meter was an actual reading (As I had the meter moved out side so I could fit my kitchen)but the Electric hadnt been read, so I asked how can you charge me for leccy after reading the gas.    Der!! she was so confused.

Now have the bills split with an account for each, so on thier own addmission I dont yet have a Gas bill to pay, and I wont pay the Leccy till they actually read it as the meter hasnt been checked for over 2 years ( annother debate with them)

Plus because of thier shtie attitude to collecting monies outstanding by the previous owner (They couldnt decide if they wanted £505 or £1503 in outstanding debts even when I gave them actual meter reading and pointed out they had never actually read the meter)  So I now refuse to pay either bill untill they start to threaten me (On principle  ::) )

Now lets see how good the post office is, redirection starts from today, (Even though I still have the house I have not lived there since May)

I have a few sample letters planned to see if it does get redirected.  Plus I have paid for the service for a whole year.    If they fail then I want a refund. ::)
