Weird eyesight problem
« on: 14 October 2009, 23:59:50 »

3 times now, I lose the ability to read and just see blobs in the detail area, cannot see text, but can see to walk.

Happened middle of last year and happened this afternoon.

Doctors think migrain, but no pain.

I did try some apple flavoured medicine and finding the correct change was a nightmare, but my 10 minutes taking my medicine did help a little.

Also for some reason I lose the ability to worry about it :o :o :o :o

I went to the doctor's to due to numberplates appearing blurred to me at a short distance, while i could still recognise the cars, cars closer i could recognise and read the plates.

Doctor said diabetic, and then confirmed with blood tests

Stress and tiredness are 2 things I would consider.

My eyes started to hurt again yesterday.  (3rd or 4th time in 2 weeks)  But I know I am really lacking a good night's sleep and have a lot of cathing up to di, which hopefully starts tomorrow when my new bed finally arrives. (only been waiting since I moved in May)

Plus stress (in my case), they say moving home is sometimes the most stress people go through, I didnt believe that at 1st, but I do now.  The moving bit wasnt too bad.  It's all the hassle of organising it, some of it was smooth and other bits were a night mare.  Gladly that looks like all loose ends will be tied up by the end of the month.

Finace is annother one. Thinking over some of your posts in the last few months Martin you have had a few issues like the rest of us.  Maybe a visit to the optician rather than the Doctor would be more benificial.  That have all the equipment, it could be something or nothing.  Stress, fatigue, finance.

Either way, worth checking out  :y  (Keep us informed)

I've suffered Migrains since I was about 13 and I know everyone has different symptoms, but that is very similar to what I get.

It's very difficult to describe, its like you've looked at a bright light and then looked away. It's the black shadow thats left there.

I rarely get a full blown headache after this unless I have a few more symptons, numbness in my nose and fingers :-? and as well as the sight thing I also get something where its as though I can see a fan spinning around in my periferal vision. Then I know im going to be hurting.

It comes on so quick that im sure my wife thinks im telling porkies about it.

Only ever found one thing that helps, Lucozade Isotonic, and even then it only helps 20% of the time.

Been diabetes tested, blood pressure checked (bit high) but have never found a reason, although with all my current financial problems I have noticed they are coming about a bit more often. :( :(

Spot on -- more common than you might think. I get it regularly -- it was an optician who diagnosed it in the end. When it first happened I thought I was having a minor stroke !!!!  Be thank ful you don't get the pain as well.

Suicide could be a remedy...  ...failing that, don't worry about it.  No point letting half-wit NHS doctors looking...

Tie your hands behind your back  ::)

I had mine lasered a few years ago --- bloody painful, but well worth it --- things have improved since then and I gather it's not really bad at all.
