Paris
« on: 25 October 2009, 22:04:20 »

I have just gotten back from Paris, a place I lived in for 5 years and I knew very very well.  I am fluent in french so I get to know all the good places as the Parisians think I am french, anyway.

A friend took me to a restaurant today which I had never heard of called 'Chez Paul' near Opera......

....Wow!

Now I wouldent call myself one of these gastro-snobs but I do know my food and wine.  I was pretty much told by my friend exactly what I was going to eat and by god I was blown away.  Escargots, perfectly cooked (not easy, only the second time ever i have had them cooked this well) and Peppered Steak with Potatoes Dauphinoises.  Well, I was in food heaven, never before have I ever some across food that good and of course the obligatory Crème Brulé just rounded off a perfect meal.  You may think that this type of food comes at a high price?  Well the Steak was only 20€! :o

They can be slightly fussy as to who eats there, Karl Lagerfeld is a regular and if you get to eat upstairs they like you as it is normally reserved for people in 'the club'.  So I wouldent turn up in a footy shirt and jeans!  So if you are ever in Paris I would seriously recommend it:

Its like London, expensive, but nice. They seem a bit OTT in Security there, I was taking some photos of the tower in a non-tourist (ish) spot trying to get some interesting shots, when armed police told me to put my camera away  :o

Ok so i was using a SLR, and i had walked around to right hand side (from the main road) of it, but not sure what all the fuss as about.

Sounds like you had a nice meal :y

If they are that fussy about who eats there then I personally would never go. My money is as good as anyone elses and if I am not "good enough" then neither is my money!!!
