I believe that about only 3%......of the population are vegans or vegetarians.........although there is some pretty tasty vegetarian food ............that I 'am happy to eat. :y :y

Tonight the Optimist family will be eating Roast chicken......with sprouts........carrots........roast spuds.....green beans and stuffing. :y :y :y

I should add that........ from a evolutionary point of view......... our eyes.........are in the wrong place .......for us to be natural vegetarians. :y :y :y

everyman to his own i say but i dont like it thrown in my face what i eat or do.i dont care what anyone likes and dislikes. i love burgers beer and fags.thats my business nobody elses so today its roast lamb for one, ive got a big bag of sprouts to eat all by myself. 2 pkts of fags and a pack of beer and hopefully i will stink morrisons out again tomorrow morning  :)

About 10 years ago ...........we bought some Kangaroo meat from Tesco :y :y :y.................it was very red in colour......and tasted very much like steak... :y :y :y
We tried to buy some more .....it was vey tasty ......and apparently .....low in saturated fat.....and only about half the price of steak.......
Much later ........we were told that there had been numerous complaints........from the public...about Tesco selling this type of meat. :'( :'( :'(
We have not come across Kangaroo meat in any major supermarket chain since then :'( :'( :'(

So what's the difference between a cow, pig, sheep etc & a Kangaroo ::) :-? apart from the obvious.
Oh yeh, they're fluffy & bounce up & down. SHOOT
EM :y :y

Agreed Pete.............they are all animals......I would be quite happy to try a nice roasted mongrel ......or tabby cat... :y :y :y

Then how do you explain the length of our gut systems?
We evolved as vegetarians. Vegetable matter takes much longer to digest which is why we have 40' of intestines. The appendix, although now vestigal, was originally there to break down cellulose (plant cell walls)
The guts of carnivores are much shorter in comparison.

Agreed.......there seems to be a paradox here PF..
As you rightly say.....our gut seems to be more suitable......... for a vegetarian.

But the location of our eyes.....and the type of teeth we have seem to be more suitable for a  carnivore

Perhaps we are omnivores..... :y :y :y

We are omnivores, got incisors and canines for meat eating, digestive system misses a lot of veggie stuff like extra stomachs and the appendix is a shrunk thingie rabbits have.

We cannot make vitamin C - so we need fruit.

Mr Darwin is proven right again - we evolved into omnivores

Eye position has nothing to do with vegetarianism
Primates e.g. Gorillas have eyes exactly placed as humans & they are vegetarian as are many other species.

Hmmm..............how many carnivores..........have their eyes......on the side of their heads?......which the grazing animals do........as they need to keep a good view of any meat eating predator........which could "take them from behind".....(excuse the pun) ;D ;)

The grazing animals ...........spend so much time with their heads down eating (literally hours each day)......that they need "eyes in the back of their head"..... :y :y :y
