No, this cannot be true. Sadly, it is.
« on: 28 October 2009, 21:42:33 »

"Draconian police powers designed to deprive crime barons of luxury lifestyles are being extended to councils, quangos and agencies to use against the public, The Times has learnt.

The right to search homes, seize cash, freeze bank accounts and confiscate property will be given to town hall officials and civilian investigators employed by organisations as diverse as Royal Mail, the Rural Payments Agency and Transport for London.

The measure, being pushed through by Alan Johnson, the Home Secretary, comes into force next week and will deploy some of the most powerful tools available to detectives against fare dodgers, families in arrears with council tax and other minor offenders."

Yet again, old Joe Stalin would be very proud. Its no big surprise really, there have been quite a few New Liebore cabinet members over the years who were previously card carrying members of the Communist party.

The revolution is coming that much closer! ::) ::) ::) ::)

The more unelected officials ignore our liberal democratic values the greater the chance that new ideologies will enter our politics, for better or worse! ::) ::) ::) ;) ;)

Very important point, Lizzie. Reading beneath the article in The Times, I came across this posted comment:

"27 years a member of the Labour party. Not any more. Can't vote Tory / Lib Dems haven't got a clue. Really tempted to vote BNP, won't, but sorely tempted. If the Tories don't kick this new law out, and it doesn't look likely seeing as they've not screamed at it now, then next time I vote it most certainly will be BNP."

The mainstream parties just don't get it, do they? If they carry on as they are, they will kill themselves off.

Poland's in the EU, so while you can run, you can't hide. :(

What happens here will sooner of later happen all around the EU, IMHO.  >:(

Perhaps people will now realize that the state is becoming all-powerful and that the will of the state must be adhered to. :y

Uncle Joe would be wearing a wry smile indeed on hearing this news ;) ;)

Step out of line if you dare. ::) ::) :y

Its speaks volumes imo that someone is considering leaving this country to live in Poland.
Its not that long ago that we in this country used to be thankful that we didnt have to live under the rule of a hideous communist regime. It shows I suppose that Poland has improved in many ways in recent times, while this country has gone in completely the oppisite direction. :( :( :(
