Please, please, no silly comments about Glenn Beck or Fox News. Forget about the messenger, think only of the message. Just let me know what you think about the subject matter. Split into 6 segments due to YouTube size restrictions:

one of the most highly respected journalists in the world working on the most fair and balanced news outlet on the planet - i'm sure we'd all concur so no need to worry about the messengers Nickbat, unimpeachable.

imo its the same flawed arguments - lets look at a small window of history and extrapolate from that that the earth is cooling - its an upward trend, of course theres dips and flats in the graph but zoom out 150yrs and its plain to see - theres lies, damned lies and statistics - i could prove using edited highlights that Man Utd cannot pass the ball  8-)

usual paranoia, misinformation and bad science from the sceptics

other than that - splendid! Lord whats-his-name is quite engaging  ;)

......you may well have missed the point here bj.

I have said on many occasions that the present clamour over climate change is being used as a cudgel to smash the present conceptions of ordered international boundaries and sovereign nations.

The very real threat to each and every one of us is the push towards the ‘New World Order/Government’ and this is the factor in this elegant and audacious plot that is most deserving of close attention.

Climate concern has been very successfully used to obfuscate the true intent of the UN and similar bodies in order to provide the path of least resistance to this goal.  Many means are employed in the manipulative attempts to guilt many people into submission - witness - from UN Earth Summit Brazil 1992:

...and how she progressed;

http://weightofsilence.wordpress.com/2008/06/23/the-girl-who-silenced-the-un-for-five-minutes/

The mere fact that Kofi Annan has seemingly employed her services should be enough to promote suspicion.

The reasons over such concern for climate change and the seemingly unending will to ram them down our collective throats are many - some justified, many not - the real reason that this matter is being given such precedence, in my view, is that it provides a doorway through which the march to world government will be made.

 I have a feeling that the world’s climate will be able to look after its own interests whilst we, the inhabitants who depend on it, will be too busy tying ourselves up in guilt and hand-wringing, as a result of this bare-faced manipulation, to notice that there's not a damn thing in real terms we can constructively do about it.

In the timeline of planet earth, man has been on it for a microsecond, and has has been industrialised for a lot less time. Yet we are destroying the planet, Yeah of course we are.

What is detroying man is his arrogance, in that we think we have the power to change the planet, we do not. The planet has the power to change us for good.

The problem is most of the people in power today grew up in the hippie generation and are still spaced out today. It will change again in the next twenty years when the generation of punk rockers take over and again it will change when the 90s selfish generation take over in about 40 years time. Thank someone I won't be around for that one.

He mentions the new U.S. healthcare initiative that Obama ............is rightly trying to push through.
Apparently........... forty million Americans have no health insurance....(is the U.S....a third world country?.)
There is obviously much opposition to this.......usually ...in the form.........of good living.....pot-bellied Republicans......who only ever think about how much extra............ they must pay in taxes to help support ....what they see ......as the... American underclass..........trailer trash.....for want of a better word.
Yes.........the American people will probably .....have to pay more tax ....in order to fund the Obama proposals.......but he is a Democrat.....so it should be a priority for him.  :y :y :y

Yes it should be a priority for him and was one of his big election promises, however, as most Democrats do, he is letting the Republicans stall and water down the public option so much that it is now unlikely there will be a public option.The U.S. House and Senate are so wrapped up in lobbyists from big business that little real change occurs.The pharmaceutical lobbyists pump in around $700,000 a day to make sure that the politicians vote the right way, the right way for them.
To run for President you need obscene amounts of money, money which comes from big business, banks and the like.They ain't gonna invest without some return, so 'He who pays the piper, calls the tune'.
Don't expect any real change from Obama, a different mouth but the words we've all heard before.

That makes sense from a British cultural perspective (if British culture still exists?) but from a U.S. cultural perspective it is quite alien and I dont think that should be dismissed lightly.
The whole mindset in the U.S. is very much if you want something in life you work and save for it and what Obama is proposing is to them something close to communism.It is only natural that it will be treated with a great deal of suspicion.The U.S citizens without insurance arent totally excluded from health care so the figure is a little bit of a red herring.
Whatever they end up with I hope for their sake that they dont closely model it on the 2009 style U.K NHS,  ;)

....am inclined to agree on that but would add that I consider Obama to hold the potential for being one of the most divisive Commanders in Chief in recent history.

I also belive that a country should care for its genuinely needy optomist,but  the mindset is deeply entrenched in the culture and if it is to be changed it will be a rocky road.
If they look at the affect of our efforts to be caring and help the weak via our welfare system,they may see that it not only de- motivates the people who are having their earnings taken in tax to pay for it,but also has the same effect on the people who receive the benefits.They dont need to work or save if they want it,just learn how to play the system.I hope for the sake of their country that they strike a much better balance than we have. ;)

....I’m inclined to agree with most of what you say Opti - inflammatory language aside.  There seems to be a strange dichotomy in the attitude to health care provision in the US which may have had unintended consequences;

http://www.scientificamerican.com/blog/post.cfm?id=are-firefighters-raising-healthcare-2009-09-04

...can this be the only option - surely not?

The most urgent consideration should be of course can these proposals be funded in the light of other government spending?

So what would be so wrong with world government?? Countries would still have their own leader but be part of a bigger contigous picture. There would be an end to warfare (unless it was against aliens)and its wasted billions every year and an end to hunger. At the moment we have an absolutely toothless UN that in most instances cannot even agree to make a resolution against a warmongering or dangerous country.
Just think about it. People object to spending a few billions to protect our earth from a perceived or imaginary warming threat but no one seems to rail against the vast , absolutely VAST waste of money on weaponry and war every year of all of you are lives.
