Nothing new. Most of the money went abroad.

I rather like the dutch government calling it daft twice in the same sentence, what i do hate about these programs is their reference to 'green' electric only cars.

Electric cars are not green, what do these environmentalists do not think about is the coal fired power stations generating the electric  >:(

This program has some 'sports' electric car which was about as refined as my ass, and noisy as hell.

Electric cars have no future, hydrogen fuel cell cars are the only possible future. Problem still remains though, obtaining hydrogen still requires fossil fuels.

I read an article on this subject in car mechanics magazine last month. The list of modern classics,in perfectly useable condition which had been scrapped was enough to bring a tear to the eyes.
Someone even took a Porsche 911 to a dealer for scrappage, almost unbelievably the dealer informed them that the car was worth a lot more than 2 grand and sent them on their way.
Still its heartening to know that the Indian car industry is thriving on British taxpayers money, and having watched the minister responsible for administering the mess being interviewed it was comforting to have my supicions confirmed yet again. He really didnt have the first rather clue what he was talking about. >:(

One garage offered 2 grand off a car then sold it to a collector for £5000.

Future is GM fuel.

However I think algae based heavy oil is very likely

Those living in the Oxford region know that the tree hugging hippies who want to live off the state rather than get a jon have been camped out on top of Didcot's chimney, so the greenies' msg is inconsistent.

Push the tinkers off the chimney, and use them for fuel for the boilers - at least they would have done something useful with their lives then...

In my view the car scrapage scam just encourages people get in more debt.England has been hit hard by the credit crunch, jobs going down the drain, companies going bust so what do the government come up to inject money in to the economy a scrapage scam.
Joe Bloggs has a old rusty banger worth until this started £0.00 now it's worth 2k ,so off he goes and gets a brand spanking new car putting him in debt which if his car was still worth £0.00 he wouldn't have bought a new or used car on HP.
In a few months the housing bills go up,he could lose his job or has his wages cut now he's in deep do do.
Now as he has no job the government give him money to live on,pay his rent etc .
Now he hasn't got a job and car gets taken back.So the government pay out twice putting the economy in deeper s**t.
The only good thing about the scrapage scam is we will be able to by a nearly new,low mileage, still under warranty car cheap from the auctions
