from the rochdale observer

http://www.rochdaleobserver.co.uk/news/s/1179267_store_bans_help_for_heroes_woman

An Asda spokeswoman said: "We are big supporters of the Help for Heroes campaign and we sell the pin badges and wrist band in hundreds of our stores. That's why we were shocked and surprised to hear of an incident involving one of our colleagues at the Rochdale store. We are not aware of any incident of this nature taking place. If it were to be found true we would take it very seriously indeed. That's why we'd like to take this opportunity to invite the customer back into the store if she'd like to discuss the details with the store manager. We can then look to investigate the matter."

So the Asda spokesman thinks the woman might have made it up!!!!  >:(  >:(  >:(

I don't post many angry posts on here, but this subject really gets to me. A story on the BBC web site tells of a Lancashire shop chain 'Body care', who banned all staff from wearing poppies as its policy is "In a statement, the company said that its staff were banned from wearing all badges which could portray personal beliefs to avoid offending other staff or customers." They wouldn't even be trading if it wasn't for the brave men & women who died for our freedom.

Our local Aldi refuses to let British legion sell poppies, and Aldi have form for this in previous years. I refuse to shop at Aldi, ever, and encourage everyone I meet to do the same if they mention Aldi.

The other day there was a story of an Asda checkout worker, who happened to be Muslim, who refused to serve a woman because she was wearing a 'support our troops' wrist band. His supervisor backed him!

Is it just me, or do others agree that this is repulsive?

If I was in that position I would just have saved about £70 as I would have reloaded the trolley and walked out with it

When the BNP start cleaning up at election time, it may make these rather idiots question why.
As for the checkout operator at ASDA, I would have made such a fuss that any people in the store who supported our boys would have either created havoc, dumped their shopping or lynched the bastard.

The checkout person is a complete idiot. He/she or its parents came over here for a better safer way of life, now what does it think is protecting that better way of life >:(

True -- but it gives me the satisfaction of making them work to clear it up --- bit like having a row with the boss. When I leave his office I always leave the door wide open -- that way at least he has to get of his behind to go close it !!!

I've read all of this thread thus far, and I share the same thoughts as everybody else.

However instead of sitting behind the keyboard ranting, who's got the nads to get up, do something, and be counted?

Simple answer is "not enough", because if there was then we wouldn't be putting up with this crap now.

Those that REALLY want to do something, let's get together.

Those that are s*it scared of putting the bin out on the wrong day, stay where you are!

I break plenty of these new silly laws all the time, a few years ago I wouldn't be breaking any laws.

Of course they are silly - like my number plates are illegal despite being the correct font.

As to the Asda worker - how dare they use claiming to be of a religion to persecute someone. He needs to read his own book.*

The whys and wherefores were pertinent in the middle ages but not now.

* It is said that his book contains loads of contradictory stuff but unless you can read Arabic you have no chance verifying.

I also now feel like a nice loin chop oh dear :-[ :-[ :-[ ;D ;D ;D
