No wonder my Media Center is slow...
« on: 21 November 2009, 11:29:06 »

As you can tell, this week I've been spending a bit of time investigating why my own computers have not been too great.

MCE this time.  It was taking ages to copy media to/from it.  Network was only running at 100Mbps Full Duplex. Took me about an hour to find why, what with assumption being the mother or all cock-ups.

Any guesses?

Plugged your network cable into the wrong NIC?

Patched the cable into 100Mb port on the switch / Replaced switch with a 10/100Mb version without realising?

Fractured patch lead?

Upgraded to the NIC drivers and now it doesn't support 1GB?

Attacked any of above items with Sammy?
